Our MD, Tania Morgan-Weyer, joins the Pet Food Industry Association’s Board of Directors

05 May 2016

The Pet Food Industry Association (PFI) has announced that our Managing Director, Tania Morgan-Weyer, has been elected to join the PFI’s board of Directors. The appointment comes at a time when greater public awareness of the importance of nutrition and food safety for human health has led to increased attention being paid to the nutritional needs of pets. This is integral to Promeal because as the local leaders in wet pet food manufacturing we are both devoted and committed to leading the industry in this shift to better quality and more nutritious pet food.

This focus on improving the local pet food industry and the nomination of Morgan-Weyer whose ambition it is to help the local industry grow and guide South African’s on responsible pet ownership, highlights the PFI’s newfound commitment and vision to creating one clear and unified voice to represent the industry in public arenas such as Government, regulatory agencies, related industries and the media. As an agency that is dedicated to promoting knowledge of the nutritional soundness of commercially prepared pet foods, the PFI's public affairs initiatives aim to deliver a consistent industry message and image with its initiatives.

Under the leadership of Johan van Jaarsveld, the PFI’s new vision will be even further enhanced by the appointment of passionate MD Morgan-Weyer who is dedicated to educating people on responsible pet ownership. Morgan-Weyer has led the Promeal ship for the past 2 years and we recently launched the internal mantra of “TAKE THE LEAD,” a long-term company strategy to “TAKE THE LEAD” in the industry. The mantra advocates for better, healthier and more transparent pet food products, the use of healthier ingredients, more nutritional recipes, environmentally friendlier processes and generally educating the nation on responsible pet ownership. This corporate belief system is supported by focusing the business’ energy and resources towards constantly improving our flagship brands, BOSS for Dogs and Petley’s Dog and Cat as well as supporting the welfare of pets in South Africa over implementing generic marketing tools.

“I’m very honoured to have been invited and elected to be on the PFI’s board of Directors, and look forward to begin implementing strategies that make a positive impact in the South African pet food industry.” says Morgan-Weyer, “I believe my new role on the board will be that of a change agent; we aim to drive the agenda to focus on strengthening PFIs reputation and affect in South Africa so we can ensure to improve the overall integrity of our industry and the transparency to the customers who trust in us to feed their pets.
